Friday, May 09, 2014 – Here we have a dinosaur about the size of a pheasant with an unusually long tail, weighing in at an estimated weight of 1-2 lbs. As the subject mentions, it was the first dinosaur to have its life colouration described based on physical evidence. Specifically, fossils show alternating light and dark bands on the tail. This conclusion was later supported after a study on preserved melanosomes in some Sinosauropteryx fossils.
